Let me paint the picture for you: It's 11:30 PM the night before your best friend's birthday, and YOU either forgot to get a gift or have been staring at the wall for eight hours trying to figure out the perfect gift. Sound familiar? I know this all too well. I have compiled a list of simple ideas to make your next gift PERFECT.

A cozy blanket

You are probably thinking, "Okay, WHO really needs another blanket?" The answer is EVERYONE. My brother and I both made blankets for our significant others, and I even made one for my roommate — they all loved them. There is nothing better than wrapping up in a nice, warm blanket that someone you care about made for you. Seriously!

Gift cards or cash

This is what I like to ask for when people want to know what I would like for my birthday. I can take it and put it into my savings or go and spend on some new pieces to add to my wardrobe. The possibilities are endless when it comes to spending those gift cards and cash.

Online subscription

Whether it be Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, or Spotify, a year subscription prepaid is honestly a great idea. I would kill for something pay for my Spotify premium for a year. Added bonus, if you are a student, you can get Spotify and Hulu for $4.99 a month. EASY gift and it lasts for 12 months.

Just don't forget their birthday next year.

Full tank of gas

Who hates paying for gas? Probably everyone.

Why not treat your friend or S.O. to a tank of gas and a Gas Station fountain pop or slurpy. What could get better than that?

Favorite candy

What is better than getting their favorite candy or chocolate on their birthday? Nothing!

Honestly, just you being there could make them smile ear to ear. Good luck with your future gifting adventures!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
