Helping guys with their overall appearance is one thing, but it’s on the inside where it really counts. Whether it is guys asking for advice, or girls asking out of curiosity, everyone seems to be obsessing over the problem men have faced for years. What’s actually better -- boxers or briefs?

For us ladies, it seems though we have a million choices for undergarments. While we are enjoying such a wide range of options, guys seem to continue to wear the same old stretched out, hole-in-the-waistband underwear. It is time we break this pattern, gentlemen! There’s no right answer to the boxers or briefs phenomenon; it just really comes down to personal preference. Here are some pros and cons of your options, guys. Maybe this will help you in making a well informed decision.    

Boxers

The best thing about wearing boxers is the health aspect they offer. Boxers are, technically, a better option because of the extra room they provide. This offers airing out. Although this may seem fantastic, one idea to keep in mind is that an “airer area” will, potentially, let odors escape a lot easier. Oh geez, look out for that! 

Boxers have far more fabric than briefs, which can be tricky if you are wearing tighter jeans or pants; the excess fabric will ride up into some sort of a mushroom cloud above your waistline. They also don’t give a lot of support, leaving you,  well, dangling. Not really good for when you are participating in any sort of physical activity.

For those of you who favor boxers, a few things to keep in mind: stay away from those tacky, crazy print boxers, or anything with a cartoon character on them. While funny patterns and sexy slogans on your underwear can be good for a laugh, I guarantee they are not attractive. Secondly, silk boxers are not good for every day wear! They are all right for sleeping in, if you’re into that sort of thing. Actually, probably just don’t wear them ever. It’s kind of high maintenance. Am I right ladies?  

In my opinion, if you're still wearing boxers, it's time to get with the times. Come on boys, keep up!

Briefs

Briefs are a popular alternative for guys who don’t like the freedom and space that a pair of boxers can offer. Due to their snug fit, they stop your parts from uncomfortably dangling when you are pacing around campus, climbing stairs or working out. Made in plain fabrics, it’s difficult to go wrong or have them clash with an outfit. They’re just such an easy option to wear.

Since briefs are so easy, this means they are the underwear of choice for boys who lack the desire to go shopping. Briefs normally come in a convenient package, in sets of seven, at your local grocery store. They have a disadvantage as far as health goes, for the opposite reason that boxers will be better. Briefs don’t exactly have a lot of ventilation, causing problems in both health and cleanliness. They also leave your inner thigh exposed, leaving you open to horrible sweating and chafing if you are wearing denim in hot weather or walking around a lot.
