Passions. Those things that can brighten your mood, but remain unseen. I used to think that I couldn't truly detect someone else's passion and these quirks about someone were just one more personality trait. And then I learned.
My true passion is split. I have a love for music, writing, photography and creating art, but another passion that stays true through all these works is my passion for others' passions. I know that sounds a bit confusing, but I love to see others happy and radiating positive vibes to anyone around them.
When my boyfriend talks about sports, I often mumble a few words of agreement and let him ramble. It didn't hit me for a while that I enjoyed those moments of our phone calls dedicated to sports talk. I even looked forward to them at a point and tried to follow along. Hearing his voice chipper up at the idea of signing someone new to a team he barely knew. His passion for sports is just the beginning to his passion and the energy I feel over the phone will always remain a small fraction to what he is capable in person. Listening to these small things he enjoys will always bring a smile to my face and as they always say, if you're happy, I'm happy.
I always thought that the importance of communication was based on yourself and the other. Talking about your characteristics and things about your past, even if it was just your lunch. He clearly opened my world to see that communication is important even with the dull moments and the mumbled words. The passion that shows through when he talks sports can be carried over to anything and that's something I'll always love about him and something I'll always be happy about.
