Labeling. This has been heavy on my heart and mind lately. I think about it everyday. By "Labeling," I mean calling someone a Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Pansexual or just simply a "Queer." Does it really matter? Think about it, does a label simply define a human being? Or is it just a reason to not interact with them?
I see this happen every day. Labeling. Why? Why is it a "thing" these days to look at someone and assume they are gay, bi or even "a queer?" Even if they are, or you actually know for a fact they are, should it matter to you? I know I am asking a lot of questions, but just answer them truthfully in your mind.
I see these actions happen most with Christians or any type of religion.
God shows His power through love, and wants His people to show His love to others, you know, that powerful thing called Fellowship? The Bible says in John 13:34, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." We should all, as God's people, show this kind of love everyday. The more we assume and judge, the more we hurt others and disobey God in all honesty.
Back to my question above: "Should it matter to you?" In most religions, we all know same-sex relations are a sin. That does not mean we should just shut people out of our lives or talk about them because they are sinning. We are all sinners; all sin is equal. Life is all about the ups and downs, and maybe that is just a downfall they are having in their lives that they do not know about yet. God works in different ways with everyone. We are supposed to show His love into the people we run into, no matter what circumstance.
There is no reason to judge others about their past, either; maybe they had that "lesbian or bi" label before, but that does not mean they are still the same person they were a year ago, or three years ago. Because I am not. Yes, I used to be a lesbian in high-school; I will admit it. It was a dark place in my life until the Lord saved me. I still have this label today by people who are ignorant by the fact that people can change. You do not know what God is doing in other's lives, so just love people for who they are, not what they are. It hurts me every day, but at least I know God loves me for me. Love everyone as God loves us, because He sacrificed His one and only Son for us.
It is the least we can do, right?
