Weirdly enough, "Paris" is my favorite episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashian's."
When Kim was robbed in Paris, the media mocked her. Howard Stern even mentioned that she should go to jail if she was lying. Amazon sold costumes mocking her robbery. People even wished death upon Kim for the incident. When she got robbed, several people, including myself said "she's got money and she is going to get everything replaced." I saw her Snapchats and followed her to see if Kim would update, but even Kim was off social media for a long time.
At the time of her robbery, I wasn't a fan of the Kardashian's. In fact, I didn't care for them. But because they were always brought up in every feed, I even thought they were annoying.
Until I watched "Paris."
The day "Paris" was released on E!, the episode and the Kardashian's were trending on Twitter. People sympathized for Kim. So I gave it a shot, and bought the episode on Amazon, ironically. And that day, my point of view changed.
"Paris" shows the true love of family. It not only shows how a family tries to mend their broken hearts, but it also teaches you that anything can happen to anyone. In the episode, you can see Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, and Kendall Jenner recall those moments in Paris in dismay as they try to move on. However, when Kim describes to Khloe and Kourtney what happened, and when she recalls when she asks if she was going to die and when she pleased for her life because she had babies, I was bursting into tears. I was left in tears because of how she worried more for her babies, North and Saint, who was an infant at the time, and how someone could almost lose their life in a split second. At the end, Kim states that "none of it matters, it's all replaceable," to which Khloe Kardashian responds, "just you."
What Kardashian West would never get over is the trauma that she went through. The entire family was impacted then, but to this day, one can see the change Kim has made. Today, Kim wears little to no jewelry and barely boasts her prized possessions on social media. And to this season, season 17, you can tell she is slowly trying to move on from her robbery by adding more scrutiny at her home when guests come and visit.
Personally, it is my favorite episode because it was not only the very first episode I watched of KUWTK, but it made me respect Kim Kardashian West as a person. To this day, almost three years after the episode first aired, I STILL CRY DURING THE LAST FIVE MINUTES when Kim tells her sisters that she pleaded for her life so she could see her babies. Personally, it is my favorite episode because it was not only the very first episode I watched of KUWTK, but it made me respect Kim Kardashian West as a person. Now as a fan, I enjoy watching all the crazy stuff they do and how they bond as a family through thick and thin.
"Paris" connects to me on so many levels. This Spring, at my old job, I was physically assaulted. My assailant had said derogatory, racial comments to me and proceeded to hit me." The fact that I was alone, working a closing shift and not having anyone there was the most terrifying part. I called my best friend and I told him what happened, and how I was scared to leave my job because my assailant could hurt me if he had a gun or if he grabbed and kidnapped me. Making a quick decision on how to make it out alive was the excruciating part. But in the end, I made it out alive and I don't have to worry about this wandering criminal anymore. But what I went through will always be stuck with me on the back of my mind.
