It's always nice when you can really focus in on something, especially when it comes to learning something new. Life can throw curveballs, and often times, there's more than one thing fighting for our attention in one moment. This is true in the classroom, at the kitchen table, at a job, and-wait for it-church. Anytime I'm sitting in church, or even reading my bible in the silence of my room, I often find myself thinking: thinking over and over about what God's trying to tell me.
The mind is a powerful thing. Its power is a constant reminder of why we should so desire to stay anchored in the presence of the Lord. If we do, the mind no longer owns us, the holy spirit does; only the spirit will give us the strength to say no to the enemy that feeds the mind lies that many are guilty of buying into. The spirit liberates us from the mind. Should we give way to other desires, however, we will live in a constant prison of ourselves that chains us down whether we realize it or not. When the spirit is the guiding factor of one's motives, it's easier to resist acting sinfully on a certain temptation. Suddenly, an individual will inherit the discernment necessary of truly knowing the difference between the enemies words and God's words. Once equipped with all this, its death has officially lost its sting!
Knowing our own motives and the devils voice is more than half the battle. At that point, it's up to us to turn our attention to the one we know who's for us and not against us; the one that speaks the truth and empowers the soul.
