The summer and winter breaks in between semesters can be tedious and downright boring compared to our upbeat lifestyles on campus, and there are so many things to miss while away from Wisconsin's capitol city. Here's a few that any badger can relate to.
1) As mentioned before, Burnett's (or any alcohol for that matter). Wisconsin is prestigious for a number of things, but it also has a reputation for being on the wild side. Even though we all complain about this cheap drink, we all know deep down there's no place we'd rather chug it than UW-Madison.
2) Bar life. Because in your hometown, it's a little harder to get into those downtown bars when using your $60-80 fake from some random state. Madison is the greatest for us students because you'll rarely walk into a bar of strictly 21-and-over aged people. Unless you go farther toward the capitol...
3) Gamedays. That is all. Nothing else needs to be said.
4) Bountiful options of food. State street never ceases to amaze, and Roast will never fail to curb your craving after a long day at FAC. Brunch Club will always start your day of hungover laziness with a bang, and who can resist a stop at Tags on your walk-of-shame home?
5) Being surrounded by all of your best friends. Those who go through college together, stay together. I think any student at UW Madison can say that they've made some of their best friends in life thus far while attending college.
6) Grubhub. Let's be real: who DOESN'T love to have almost any/every type of food delivered to your doorstep in less than an hour? Hangovers should come with a requirement of using of Grubhub, and with Madison's selection of food, any food desire is sure to be fulfilled.
7) Madison in general. This city is honestly perfect. It has a total college town feel, but comes with an Urban setting and offers so much for every type of person. Anyone who lives in Madison can tell you that some of their best years of life took place in this city. Those who visit Madison are always sure to come back.
As if there isn't enough to miss, the list could probably go on and on. It just goes to show why UW-Madison is one of the best universities in this country for more than a few reasons, and proves to be incredibly easy to miss for all its awesome aspects.
