This year has been an eventful one for primates. Michael Phelps retired. Kevin Durant left the OKC Thunder. However, the biggest event this year has got to be the senseless killing of the beloved gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo named Harambe.
This has affected us all in a variety of ways. Some of us are still mourning the loss of this handsome creature. Others claim his death is justified. Everyone has had their voice heard in the matter, except for one.
In wake of his upcoming movie, King Kong revealed how he feels about the death of Harambe. Koko, the gorilla who knows sign language, translated what Kong had to say.
"I loved Harambe! Our parents were actually good friends back in the day" starts Kong. "However, the timing of his death has taken the anticipation out of my new movie."
At Comic-Con, the trailer for Kong: Skull Island debuted for the world. This movie is the second in the Godzilla-Kong film series. Fans were excited, but it is not enough for Kong.
"The trailer for my movie was debuted in July. It currently has about 10 million views," Kong informs. "But since Harambe's death in May, people have not stopped talking about him."
Kong is correct. Harambe was shot on May 28th. Ever since then, millions of memes continue to arise from our news feed. It is September and we continue to enjoy all of them.
Koko also had a few things to add.
"I have been a huge fan of King Kong and his work. However, I feel he is being a bit selfish. Harambe was one of the greatest leaders of our generation, and now he is dead."
Kong's new movie is scheduled to release in March of 2017. There is still plenty of time for him to get the traction he would like. Until then, rest in peace Harambe. We are sorry that people and apes alike are not honoring your death.
