The United States has changed before our eyes. Since the inauguration of our new President Trump, the country has woken up. Statistics show that the first 100 days of a new presidency are the most effective which is why you can see President Trump signing all these executive orders. They are orders that will change the course of our country. They are more than just a piece of paper and I have never seen so many citizens feel so passionate about the direction of the country.
As the days go by, I want us all to think about the kind of country you want to live in and what you can do. I want us all to read the newspaper, credible sources online, and voice your opinion. Do not stay silent. This is not a time to just go through your Twitter and Facebook feed; you are here for a greater purpose. Do your part in whatever shape and form to create a peaceful country that welcomes all.
I know that I want to wake up to a country that does not ban human beings based on religious beliefs or nationality. Who does not help those that need it the most because of their civil wars. I want to wake up to a country that sees our diversity as a strength and not a weakness. A country that sees men and women equal in every way. A country that will support children of immigrants and not take away health insurance. A country that is looking for what is best for the nation as a whole and not the top one percent.
I want to wake up to that kind of country and now it is your turn to ask yourself. I ask only one thing from you: stay awake past the 100 days; stay awake for the next four years.
