Khloe Kardashian's fit physique has gained attention from everyone these past few months. She has been dedicated to working out and even has new TV series coming out called "Revenge Body."
Unfortunately there are always people who only offer up negative attention. On Thursday, Khloe fired back at her haters with the following tweets:
"I need to remember the date today!! Never would I have ever thought I would be in the media for being "too skinny". What on earth?!?!"
"First I'm too fat and now I'm too skinny. I love this game!!"
Khloe's tweets are evidence that no one wins in the world of body shaming. Celebrities are placed under a media-microscope and are criticized and scrutinized about everything that they do. Khloe is not the only celebrity who has ever been shamed for her body, and she most certainly is not the only person. Sadly, body shaming happens every minute of every day.
So...let's use Khloe as an example here, and let's discuss body shaming.
We are all guilty of body shaming, which is quite sad. Why? What gives each of us the right to judge someone else's body? I don't want someone judging my body, so I shouldn't judge yours.
Do you know why I don't want someone to judge my body? The answer is that my body is not who I am. Judge my character before you judge my body, because that is who I am.
People are shamed because they are too fat and people are shamed because they are too skinny. Khloe has been shamed for both, just like many other people out there. And just like all those other people, Khloe is much more than just her body.
There are various reasons (excuses) people body shame others: they need something to talk about, they're jealous, they aren't happy with their imperfections so they talk about those imperfections in others, they need to have a reason to hate someone (ridiculous yet true). But these reasons are not valid. Too often people stoop to discussing the imperfections in others' bodies. But why? Why is that OK?
Body shaming hurts people. Body shaming is a ridiculous act that does not make anyone feel good about themselves. Let's stop body shaming altogether, because there is no reason for it.
