Just Keuka College Things

Just some Keuka College things that all students at Keuka can relate to. Going to a smaller college has its perks and we have some pretty unique things that only Keuka Students know about. And at the end of the day, we wouldn't have it any other way.

1. Bingo night is no joke at Keuka.

When you can win prizes like Ipads, smart TVs, apple watches and other awesome prizes, its no joke. Bingo is a big thing and no one messes around.

2. Chicken fries are hands down a Keuka signature.

Chicken fries are a rave at Keuka. Everyone loves them. Enough said.

3. Finding a good parking spot is the equivalent of winning the lottery.

It's rare and feels like winning the lottery when you actually get a good parking spot at Keuka. Parking is a well-known issue, and you hear about it ALL THE TIME. I mean who really wants to park in V lot. At least V lot, has some crazy gorgeous sunsets.

4. The lakeside campus.

It's hard to not fall in love with the crazy views and lakeside campus. Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, or lounging by the lake whatever you prefer, it does not disappoint. Not to mention is makes for a pretty incredible sunrise.

5. Wednesday night wing nights at Lloyds.

Wednesday night wing night is a big deal. Wings are cheap and lets be honest we are all broke college students. And who doesn't like chicken wings?!

6. You cannot go anywhere without bumping into someone you know.

Keuka is such a small campus, it's hard not to see someone you know, everywhere you go. Even the people you don't want to see. It's both a blessing and a curse.

7. Late night breakfast

Late night breakfast only happens twice a year, but the lines always long to get in and the foods pretty good. We all know Keuka closes dinner around 7:30, so late night breakfast fulfills those late night cravings. It's also right before finals so it's a good study break! Go load up on waffles, pancakes, sugary donuts, eggs, and all your favorite breakfast foods before getting back to the books.

8. Seneca farms is a Keuka student hot spot.

Fried chicken, mac and cheese, wedge fries, and do not forget the homemade ice cream. Another place you cannot go without seeing a Keuka student. Need a study break? Bored of the weekend? Need a late night ice cream run? Seneca Farms is the place to be.

9. Outlet trails

Hiking is a big thing around Keuka. There's so many trails and falls to go to. The Outlet Trails are about seven miles of beautiful scenery and waterfalls. Another place you see lots of Keuka students on the weekends.

10. Wolf Wednesday

Wolf Wednesday is no joke. On Wednesdays, you wear Keuka gear, and some your school spirit. In return, you get cool free stuff like shirts, water bottles, hats, towel and a whole bunch of other stuff.

11. Garrett's Chapel

Garretts Chapel is beautiful and super close to Keuka College. During the fall the view of the lake and all the color changing trees is incredible. It seems like everyone goes here at least a couple time a semester. A good get away for sure!

12. Socrates challenge.

The Socrates challenge was created by a professor on campus. The professors different classes compete to find the little hidden statue of socrates somewhere within yates county. It's a great way to get out and see the wonders of the area and discover new places. And whichever class finds it, gets bonus points. A little friendly competition, and the students love it.

13. It's like a family

Needless to say Keuka has its little-hidden things. Things that make the campus unique. At the end of the day we're like a little family. I have met some of my best friends here, gone through some of the biggest challenges of my life so far, had ups and downs, and most importantly have grown with the people I have met at Keuka. We may complain, but at the end of the day, we are all part of the Keuka Wolves.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
