To many people February 14th may be the most dreaded day of the year. You complain that it is just a reminder that you’re single or “unloved.” When people ask me what I’m doing for Valentine's Day my first response is, “Well, I’m single, so nothing.” But it doesn’t have to be nothing. Between your family, friends and yourself, you can do things you enjoy or make you happy to make this day filled with love.
This feeling of dread for Valentine's Day shouldn’t be the case. Make this Valentine's Day different—whether you’re single, surrounded by family and friends, or you're with your partner, focus on self love.
Buy your friends Valentines. Send them a note telling them how much you care. It’s a day about love and if you love your friends you can definitely send them a card, chocolate or something to let them know you appreciate them.
For yourself, buy chocolate. Blast Hailee Steinfeld’s, "Love Myself," and use this day to love yourself. It’s the longest and most consistent relationship you’ll ever have, so you may as well appreciate it and love it.
For those of you in a relationship, show your love through more ways than just flowers and chocolate. Tell your partner all the reasons why you love them.
Don't dread the 14th. Whether you're single or taken, have fun with it. It's a good excuse to eat chocolate and remind all the people you care for, that you love them.
Keep it in perspective, it's 24 hours all about love, but if you just love everyday, it won't feel any different.
