Life, as I never thought.

If I were to look back two years ago, I can honestly say that I didn’t take anyone’s warning about real adult life, as I should have. I understood that I would have to work and attend school, all while trying to get into my schools programs; however, I never truly understood how hard it would actually be. I can say that I didn’t take things seriously, at all.

One by one, things slowly started to get more difficult in life. There are many people in the world that have done this very thing and have come out successful and seemingly, on top of the world. “How hard could it be?” is all I kept telling myself. However, even though many can do it without much struggle, sometimes it’s not as easy as it looks. The one important thing to keep in mind is that you must always have hope.

It’s the little things that get you through the day. The hope that allows you to think, “Even though I have a five-page paper due tonight and I work at 8:00 a.m. the next day, I can do this.” This hope is what gets us through the many parts of the day. It's the mornings where you hope to wake up and make it to class in the morning, or the evenings when you need to spend the next few hours in the library studying for a test that is leaving you worried about your grade.

Sometimes challenging situations happen in life, and it seems like there is not enough hope in the world for all of your problems--hope is still there. Hope is described as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.” Looking back at the definition, I understand that I didn’t use my perfectly normal, humane emotion to have hope as I should have. Maybe by having more hope in my life, happy endings would happen more. But why is it that any time things are finally going right in life, it seems like luck? And any time things go wrong in life, luck is turned into misfortune, as if it’s the end of the world and there is no way out?

Yet time after time, you find a way out of a horrible situation and a tough time. But to get to the point of finding your way out, there is always a tiny bit of hope left in your body that allows you to push through every time.

If we all just believe in ourselves and treat ourselves as the controller of our own lives, the harder times in life might not seem so bad. Studying for finals within the next week may be hard, but it will all be worth it in the end once we have hope, keep calm, and carry on. Hope may sometimes feel like its miles away across a never-ending desert, but even if you have to dig deep down, it lies within all of us. It gets us through the days to see our families, go to work, and just live our lives. All in hope, you can lead the life you’ve always wanted.

So here I say don’t let a hard day, week, or month take charge of who you want to be. Keep trying and always have hope.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
