It's official, summer has arrived! Looking back on the school year, I can honestly say I accomplished a lot. I succeeded in not being run over by a bus, sent out my very own Christmas cards, nearly doubled my record collection and filled up one third of my punch card at Roast. While all of these exhibit exceptional adulting, I have seen the most growth in my walk with the King. During the school year it became a routine to keep God a part of my daily life. As my plans and schedule for the summer have become less consistent, I have realized that a more conscious effort will be necessary in pursing a relationship with Jesus Christ. To do so, I have made a game plan for myself and anyone else who who might have the same yearnings.
1. Find your worship

2. Keep a prayer journal
Whether its everyday or once a week, set aside time to document your prayers. Putting your thoughts down on paper serves as a reminder that God is in control and that you are putting your trust in Him. With so many hearts hurting, it can be easy to forget all the amazing ways God works in our lives. Keeping track of your blessings will keep your priorities straight and your attitude positive.
3. Reach out
Tell others that they are important and that you value them as individuals. Make an effort to connect with people, even if its just learning your server's name or having a five minute phone conversation with an old friend. Prayer is 100 percent necessary, but useless if we do not allow God to use us to answer those prayers.
4. Treat yourself right
It is fundamental that you love others, but you can only do so if you love yourself. If you do not have love for yourself, you cannot properly love others. Half of the negative thoughts we have about ourselves we would never dream of saying to someone else. Be confident in how your Creator has made you, and know that your value is intrinsic. Eat healthy, exercise, rest and remove yourself from damaging relationships.
5. Read daily
To know Him, we need read what He has written to us. The Bible isn't just a book of stories, or a collection of suggestions. It is a map when you need direction, a disciplinary when you need correction, and a consolation when you seek solace. It is the foundation on which you build your life. If you have not experienced His word for yourself, you cannot truly know Him. Investing time to truly study the word will define how serious you are about your relationship with Christ.
Worship, pray, serve, love and read. Set a fire and keep it lit all summer long.
