"Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere."
That, my friends, is a quote from the ever famous "Van Wilder". Sure, he was a 7th year senior, who was the epitome of a frat star, but he hit the nail on the head with that quote.
As a 22 year old college student, who is constantly anxious about his future endeavors, I know all about the pressures you're probably feeling as a college student, regardless of your year. The key thing to remember in times of uncertainty is to not let it ruin the "Utopia-like" life we are lucky enough to have in these 4 or 5 years in college.
Just think about it. We are at an outstanding University, we're young, and we have every opportunity at our fingertips. College is the time to begin to find yourself. It's a time where you can go out on a Wednesday, a Thursday, or just whenever you feel like it, and it is perfectly acceptable. College is a time to find your passion, to make some mistakes, to make new friends, to explore, to learn, and to make a catalog of endless memories.
I feel like the constant worry of "what is going to happen next?" can cause a person to miss out on what is going on right in front of them. The best things happen when you least expect it. And yes, I know, that sounds like a quote I stole from some cheesy Twitter account, but it's so true.
So please, just stop worrying about things working out, and just enjoy this crazy journey we call "College". The right person will come, the right job will come, the right opportunity will come, and so on and so forth. Just believe that.
The sad reality about our days in college, is that they are numbered. We can't let our worries steal any more of these precious days from us. College is a time in our lives unlike any other, and it's a time where we should really take in every moment. So just stop worrying so much, and start to take advantage of this great situation you're in.
