Over the last nine months, speculation about Kylie Jenner's pregnancy has popped up time and time again, always seeming to reappear the second people stopped talking about it. As an avid watcher of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," I'd like to say I am pretty tuned-in with what the family is up to almost every day of the week. From Snapchats, to Instagrams to tweets, I really had it covered. But lately, all of those were missing from one very active member of the clan: Kylie Jenner.
Kylie was known for always posting photos of herself, whether it be chilling pool side with a skimpy bathing suit on, decked out in the nicest, skin-tight clothing or promoting her makeup brand. No matter what it was, it was documented on social media. However, that was abruptly halted late last year. In December, she had a total of six Instagram posts, which may seem like a lot to a normal human, but for Kylie, that is nothing. And then, from Christmas until February 4th, absolute silence on social media.
And then, completely out of the blue, she finally addressed all the rumors, speculation and theories. She was actually pregnant all along!! While I know this probably isn't much of a shock, my jaw still hit the floor reading her post.
How in the world did someone, whose life and brand revolves around social media, manage to keep her pregnancy a secret?!?!? Yes, there were the rumors and speculation, but nothing ever leaked. She had a FULL BABY SHOWER and, still, nothing was leaked. Kylie attended doctor's appointments, visited different places and still lived a semi-normal life, not allowing any real proof of her pregnancy come out even though there is now a 12-minute video about it. Now that is impressive.
This whole ordeal is just crazy to me. Not just the part that she kept it a secret, and not even the part that Kylie Jenner is responsible for a real-life baby now. But the craziest thing is is that she is 20-years-old. I am the same age as Kylie Jenner and am nowhere near even thinking about having a child. Her life and career are just getting started, and now she has a child.
In the coming months, I am interested to see how her brand changes. Will there still be skimpy photos and 10000000-second Snapchat stories of her new lip kits? Or will in turn into baby photos and tips on how to be a better parent? She is someone who built her career off her image and appealing to teens and young adults. Will having a child change her demographic? Make her less relatable (not that her lavish life was super relatable, but you know what I mean)? Will she have to change her brand?
Though I do not understand the decision of having a baby so young when you have your whole life in front of you, I will say this. Kylie has a wonderful support system within the Kardashian family and I am positive that the baby will grow up happy and healthy, which is all anyone can really ask.
While this may change Kylie's life and brand, I am sure she will raise her child in the best way possible and be a wonderful mother. Even if she did make the interesting choice of naming her daughter Stormi... but I guess a different name just goes along with being a Kardashian/Jenner.
