Stockton University is a distinctive school located in the southern New Jersey pine barrens. This school is full of well rounded students who enjoy many of the different locations that surround them. Being 15 minutes away from Atlantic City, numerous beach towns and the luxury of a good education is what makes Stockton so special. Every school has quirks and their own interesting things that make up the school's identity. Here are some of the many things that all Stockton students know to be true.
1. No parking ever.
Whether you are a commuter or residential student, parking at Stockton always seems to be a war. Picking people up from the campus center and driving them to their cars just for the parking spot is a normal occurrence. On the residential side, circling the parking lots and ending up having to park in North Lot will forever be a terrible walk.
2. Anything and everything being “distinctive”.
The word "distinctive" is one Stockton has adopted with great care. I have grown to love and use this word in more situations than I thought I would. Thanks, Stockton!
3. Endless daily emails.
Emails from Stockton Digest, Student Senate, The Argo, Lauren Wilson, SET and many more! It truly is great to stay updated and, sometimes I don't know what I would do without these emails, but anyone can agree the amount of emails Stockton sends daily is overwhelming.
4. The short shorts maintence guy.
Ah, this man is spotted usually at least once a day fixing something throughout the campus. No matter the temperature, his daisy dukes are always on.
5. $5 for girls, $10 for guys.

This is the statement many Stockton students learn fast their first year of attendance. $5 for girls and $10 for guys is the unfortunate amount required to get into almost every party.
6. Yitzhak Sharon.
Probably one of the cutest and smartest old men alive. If you have not taken a class by him in your career at Stockton, you are truly missing out.
7. Homestyle Kitchen.
This eatery located in the lower campus center is Stockton's best kept secret. Every day there are numerous meal options that taste like your grandma cooked them each with love. Mike is also one of the best employees of Homestyle Kitchen and will always hook you up with a little bit of extra food.
8. Scheduling classes (The Hunger Games).
Scheduling classes for each semester is always a frantic task, no matter how many credits you have. Always have numerous backups ready. The few minutes before the portal opens are the longest ones of your college life. May the odds be in your favor.
9. Pitney Pub.
The Pitney Pub is a local hotspot for many townies and college students. Once a Stockton student turns 21, this becomes a regular location to have a few drinks.
10. The Dunkin' line.
Dunkin' Donuts is one of the major hotspots on campus and the line during the day is always super long. If you are lucky enough to wait in line for five minutes or less, go play the lottery. They have even opened up an express line for drinks, which seems to be slower than the food line.
11. Idea surveys.

These surveys are meant for the end-of-the-semester evaluations of your professors. Your professor can opt to have them done in class or online, which is sent via email. If they are online, you will get an email every single day reminding you to take the survey for two weeks.
12. K wing bathrooms.
K wing might be one of the least used wings of the academic building, which explains why the bathrooms are in a pristine condition.
13. No color printers.
Trying to a find a color printer on campus is a grueling task I have still been unsuccessful at after three years.
14. Sunrise Bay.

Easily half of Stockton's upperclassmen and graduate student commuters live in this off-campus apartment complex.
15. Smithville.
Smithville is a quaint town 10 minutes away from campus, full of shops, restaurants, candy shops and more. On a weekend or a nice spring day, you can expect to see many students wandering around.
16. Lake Fred.

One of Stockton's most iconic parts of campus is the large lake that separates the main side from the upperclassmen's housing. This lake has many trails around it and is always full of locals fishing. Also, one of the most basic spots for a beautiful sunset picture.
17. Club Lib.

Club Lib is a term used by many students who tend to procrastinate on all midterm and finals studying. When the library turns into "Club Lib", you are lucky if you find an open study room, table, or computer.
18. No shoes, no problem.

I will never understand why so many people at Stockton do not wear shoes. I always say "to each their own", but I will always wonder what if they step on something sharp.
19. N wing Brunch.
N wing is usually the worst place to eat on campus, but brunch is something they excel at. One meal swipe and you can eat endless amounts of eggs, bacon, french toast sticks, personalized omelets and much more.
20. Stoco.
For all of the older Stockton students and alumni, Stoco is a nickname that will forever live on in our hearts. Stockton recently made the change to university status, therefore Stoco will no longer continue as a tradition.
