Being from New York City makes you different from everyone else. Your slang and habits are weird to your out of state friends but you still love being from New York. Here a few things about New Yorkers others won't understand.

1. Paying $6.00 for a Bacon Egg and Cheese has you like...

Yeah, I admit it I've paid six dollars for a croissant bacon egg and cheese on campus. There's no reason I should spend more on a sandwich on campus than I have on a bacon egg and cheese on a hero and a drink in the city.

2. Dollar pizza is better than any pizza they sell on campus

There's no shame in paying a dollar for a pizza especially when they're so good.

3. Meeting people from Staten Island reminds you that Staten Island is actually a borough

Does Staten Island even count?

4. When you're going to Manhattan you say you're going to "the city"

5. You don't close your coat no matter how cold it is

6. You know that a chopped cheese and a cheeseburger taste completely different

*A chopped cheese is a seasoned chopped up burger patty with melted cheese served on a roll or a hero*

7. You don't go to Times Square to hang out

Tourists. So many tourists.

8. You get upset when people walk too slow

Travel time is cut in half for you and people on campus don't seem to get that.

9. You're prepared to yell "back door" whenever you're on a bus

You'll say excuse me a million times but there's no way the bus driver is going to keep going with you still on the bus.

10. When anyone tries to tell you New York City isn't great

No, New York City is magical and you just don't understand.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
