Just Add Water

Why H2O is the key to working with children.

Just Add Water

We all know how difficult kids can be. I, personally, do not have any children of my own, but I have been in the childcare business for years. One thing that I’ve learned throughout my time spent working with children is that water can be magical in just about any situation. Kids seem to transform when water is involved. It somehow has powers. Here are a few ways that it has saved me from absolute disaster:

1. If a child is on the verge of a massive breakdown, just add water. Handing over a sippy cup filled with some H2O liquid greatness can calm down even the most tearful youngin’.

2. If, for some reason, you do not feel up to dealing with kids today, just add water. Nothing in the world tires a child out more than a day spent in the water. Whether it be the pool or beach, children get so excited to be out in the water. Then, they get so exhausted that your day is over before you know it.

3. When your tots falls down and gets hurt, a simple solution to the pain is to just add water. Once that crisp, cold ice hits their tiny whimpering lips, the whole event stops. They are so distracted by the icy treat that they’ve already forgotten about the painful mishap.

4. Need something to do with your bored toddler? Just add water. Every kid wants so badly to help out in the kitchen, so why not let them? Scoop up a basic cake mix from the store, and create a delicious snack with them. Let them add the water.

Basically, water can heal all things—Boredom, tears, pain, and fear (on your part). So, if you ever find yourself in any situation where you do not know what to do with your overly-hyper or extremely bored child, remember, just add water.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
