Today I sat down with Junior Yell Leader Candidate Cason Strnadel to learn a bit more about the guy behind the "Stand With Strnadel" campaign. Cason is a second generation Aggie from Tyler, Texas. Cason's infectious and charismatic personality came through while he shared his love for this University with me. In my option, Cason is an excellent candidate to consider when voting for Yell Leader later this month.

When did you know you wanted to go to A&M?

I grew up knowing I wanted to go to A&M, I was just praying that it would work out. I remember getting accepted on my birthday and running to go to go tell my parents and give everyone a big hug.

Who is your all-time favorite Aggie football player?

Jorvorskie Lane; watching him growing up made me want to play running back, but I realized pretty quick I wasn’t quite big enough to go D-1.

Do you have a favorite song?

It’s a tie between Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks and Ignition (Remix) by R Kelly.

If you were a superhero, who would you be, and why?

I wanna say Captain America because he loves this country, he's got an awesome shield, and he has real super powers.

Do you have a celebrity crush?

2010 Taylor Swift, when she was still country.

It’s 8:00 on a Tuesday night. What are you most likely doing?

Eating Gumbys and hanging with the guys, getting ready to leave for Breakaway.

On a scale of a longhorn to a yell leader, how redass are you?

Ole Rock the good ag.

What is the best piece of advice you could give an incoming freshman?

Definitely get involved immediately. Jump right in and meet new people, and start your aggie network. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

What is your best pick-up line?

Hey, can I buy you a cup of coffee?

What is your Favorite A&M tradition?

Standing at football games and getting to be a part of the 12th Man; being ready to get called down if coach needs us. My mom has been super upset I haven’t gotten any playing time in the last two years, but I’ll just keep on standing (laughs).

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Red-ass, friendly, outgoing.

What is your favorite Aggie yell?

Locomotive, for sure.

What is your favorite part of Aggie game day?

Kickoff, that start of the game… I’ve been sad at the end of a game before, but you’ll never be sad at kickoff.

Any hidden talents?

I shot skeet in high school and go the chance to go to Junior Worlds with that. And I can say the alphabet backward pretty fast.

What is the first thing you would do if elected yell leader?

Honestly, give my parents a hug. Thank my team, and everyone that’s supported me, and who would have made this dream a reality. I would just get really excited, and I would probably cry.

Voting opens on February 23. You can vote at https://voteyell.tamu.edu .

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
