It's that time again, school is about to be out for break and Christmas shopping is about to begin. Being a broke college student leads you to start job hunting so that you can buy that extra special present for your family. It isn't easy though because everyone is hunting for jobs too. Finding a job is easy, getting hired is the hard part. Here is a poem I wrote about me going through the grueling process of job searching.
Today is the day that can change everything
Once I walk inside there’s no turning back
Everything has led up to this moment
Dressed in black and white
Like a real boss would
Only two things can happen
Disappoint and back to the unemployment line
Or accomplishment and a steady $10 an hour
They say third time the charm
And maybe this time I will walk out with something
First time I fumbled,
Talking so fast I don’t remember breathing
Felt like butterflies were flying like a storm inside me
I’m pretty sure I didn’t answer most questions clearly
It’s no secret I didn’t get it that try
Second time was better
I slowed down a lot
Much more clear and precise
The butterflies were calmer
I was even asked to come in for a second time
And I felt really hopefully
That I would get it this time
But just my luck the timing suck
The work schedule didn’t work with my school schedule at the time
So, they went with someone else
Once again, my heart broke in two
Most would give up
Most would say screw it!
But mama raised no quitters
My father always said
If you want something, you go for it
And I really wanted this!
And so here we are again
Resume in hand and fire in my eyes
Let’s go, let’s do this
I hope they hire me this time around
