In life, it's normal to have those people you look up to: your role models. These are the people whom you aspire to be like in all aspects of life, whether that is through your looks, actions or words. These individuals are commendable on many levels and whether you know them on a personal level or not, they hold a special place in your heart. One of the greatest role models I've had in my life is someone I actually haven't met yet, but hope to one day: Jo Rowling, otherwise known as J.K. Rowling. The more I continue to learn about the billion dollar author the more amazed I am. Time after time, she never disappoints, and here are some of the reasons why.

1. She was the first author in the world to reach a net worth of $1 billion.

This is not just inspiring for aspiring authors, but for all people with a vision. Rowling is living proof that if you truly have a passion and set your mind to fulfilling your dreams, you will achieve success.

2. She was also the first person to lose their billionaire status because of donating money to charity.

This woman is living proof that giving back should be a natural part a life. Imagine how different the world would be if every billionaire in the world had this mentality?

3. Even after 12 publishers rejected Harry Potter, she didn't stop persevering.

Envisioning a world without Harry Potter is incomprehensible, whether or not you're a fan. This just goes to show that every failure is merely another step towards success.

4. She founded her own charity, Lumos, to help orphaned children find a home.

Not only has Rowling founded Lumos, but she has been extremely open about her support for various charities that address problems that affect individuals worldwide.

5. Rowling hasn't forgotten the fans on her rise to fame.

Whether it's through her Tweets to fans or her writing on Pottermore, it is definitely clear that she is extremely grateful for her fan base, which makes us all feel as if we all personally know her. (Even if that's our greatest dream)

6. She remained positive, even when she was on welfare.

It's hard to remain positive when it seems as if all hope is lost, but Rowling is living proof that having hope in the darkest days can help you find the light.

7. She isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in.

J.K. Rowling's Twitter alone shows her fierce ambition and activism regarding anything from politics to literature. She continues to show her 10 million followers the beauty in having a voice and the change it can create.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
