You in the mood for a big Jimmy John’s sandwich with savory turkey, lettuce and melted cheese? Well, maybe you'll change your mind after this article.
Jimmy John’s CEO and founder, Jimmy John Liautaud, has come under public fire as photos showing him posing next to dead elephants, a rhinoceros and a leopard began circulating online. Allegedly these photos were taken in 2010 in Africa.
When someone on Twitter shared these few photos, they spread like wildfire and Liatuad is sure feeling the heat.
It doesn't help his case that African animal killings are a hot topic right now after the Minnesota dentist killed the popular lion named Cecil.
People are outraged, taking to all forms of social media and causing uproar in the animal activist community. Although not illegal, it’s not a good image for a CEO, as is clearly expressed by those around who are boycotting the sandwich guru’s stores.
Some say if the public storm gets any bigger, Liatuad will be forced to take drastic measures in order for it not to have a detrimental affect on his company. It's unknown how his revenue has being affected by the uproar, but it’s clear Jimmy John’s popularity has plummeted.
As for the tasty sub shop's opinion, the business refuses to comment.
You decide how you feel about the photos. You decide if you walk through those shiny glass doors again. Good luck to Liatuaud. He’s gonna need it.
