Love is intangible, love is immeasurable, and the concept of love is unfathomable. Rather you say it to your significant other, to your family, or to yourself, it carries an established meaning. The complexity of the word love derives from the actual definition you give it yourself.
My definition of love is not defined by the color of my skin, but the depth of my soul and the size of my heart. The size of my heart depends solely on Jesus' love for me as I fail him daily and His ability to put back together the broken pieces. The depth of my soul is created by knowledge I have been exposed to both on purposefully and coincidentally. The knowledge I've been exposed to on purpose such as Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird" and the stories out of the Bible, have left an explicit mark on my soul.
Harper Lee's sentiment of racial prejudices and the many instances of love, grace, and mercy expressed throughout the Bible put a totally different bias on the issues today totally deriving on skin color. The knowledge I've been exposed to coincidentally or on accident has taught me to love unconditionally and abundantly. Through the services out of my love for all of humanity, I've been exposed to many different people of many different walks of life. I've been exposed to nurses, preachers, teachers, police officers, drug addicts, soldiers, Christians, atheists, agnostics, field workers, business owners, and everything in between. Although I have humanistic belief that people are genuinely good, I've met bad people. I've met bad white people, I've met bad bad, I've met bad Hispanic people, and I've met all different kinds and all different colors of bad people. Although Jesus loves us all, America has fell subjected to the indifferences of the human races and race wars directed by mainstream media.
It seems as if America today has fallen incompetent to the definition of love. As defined by the Bible (NIV, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7), " Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." The definition of love we lean upon is diluted by the world and our society. Love is not dependent on sex, money, social status, or SKIN COLOR. Again love is mentioned in Mark 12:31 (NIV) "...Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than thee.” The American public as a whole has forgotten how to love their neighbors as themselves.
Throughout the Bible, God shows many examples of love, and not one is dependent upon skin color. Although we've fallen short of the expectation of God and His idea of love, we have His grace. Grace is the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God, and the influence or spirit of God operating in humans to regenerate or strengthen them. Although we don't deserve His grace, we have a lavish amount of it bestowed upon us as Christians. Paul states in 2 Corinthians 12:9 "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."
We should accept God's grace and love and pass it on to all people. Us, as Americans, of all variety colors, nationalities, occupations, and political backgrounds should love one another. We should conglomerate together and show the rest of the world what it's like to be an American, what it's like to love one another, what it's like to be a Christian, and what it's like to be whole. All lives matter to Jesus, so all lives matter to me. Let God's love shine through you, and let God's love guide you.
