The doors open, and I'm blinded by the white light, I'm in awe. I bring my arm up to cover my eyes before I become blind. At that moment someone walks up to me and asks if I am okay, if I need help with anything. I bring my arm down to see the angel that is a Sephora employee. Confessing my sins of cheating and going to MAC, using foundations way to dark for my skin, being gluttonous with my lipsticks, I am forgiven by the makeup gods and sent on my way.
My first stop in this magical place is the land of Anastasia Beverly Hills. Passing by the opportunity to "fleek" my eyebrows, my inner Kylie Jenner took over and I begin swatching every lipstick. I come across my current favorites, Pure Hollywood, a light-medium peach with a hint of pink, and Vamp the exact opposite. A dark brown toned red color, which when applied is opaque and creamy all in one swipe. The perfect day and night combo.
Tired of your lipstick rubbing off within an hour? Not a problem with Anastasia. These lip colors lasted me hours (6-7) to say the least, no primer needed. A bit on the pricey side, about $20 per liquid lipstick, but the ultra-matte finish is worth every penny. The both of these colors is nearly impossible to find, so after harassing the Sephora workers in the Deptford Mall I got the inside scoop that they get new shipments every Friday, so being the first one there on Saturday morning hungover or not, isn't a bad idea.
ABH just released their spring collection as well, and saying I'm excited is an understatement.
My other favorite lipstick brand is the Melted collection by Too Faced. I am the mother of three of these babies, the colors; Fig, Chihuahua, and from the Chocolate line, Milkshake. The pigmentation of these lipsticks are to die for. Just amazing. It lasts me a good 3-4 hours, including eating and drinking. You just have to be careful and watch out for smudges. But the color and texture of this makes it 100% worth it. Its creamy and non-drying, and the stain lasts all day. The application of these lipsticks are just perfection as well. If I can apply this in the middle of Time Square with no mirror, you know it's legit.
Since both have a matte finish, though not needed, I do suggest applying a chapstick beforehand just to prevent your lips from drying out too much.
This was just my first stop in Sephora heaven, stay tuned for next time to see where the makeup gods guided me to next.
