Its Time To Start Looking On The Bright Side

Happiness is a choice. You can choose to be miserable, or you can choose to make the most out of the situation you are dealing with. You can be dealt a really crappy hand in life, but that doesn’t mean you have to accept it. That doesn’t mean you aren’t able to fight for a better life, or for a better outcome. That doesn’t mean that you have to sit and sulk about what’s going on. In life, people are going to doubt you. They are going to look at you and judge. Don’t let them affect you. You can always change what’s happening in your life if you care enough. Put a smile on your face, and turn your unfortunate situation into an amazing one.

Believe me, I know it's not easy to turn a negative situation into a positive one within the snap of a finger. I know it's not easy to think on the bright side when you feel like a dark cloud is constantly hovering over you. It's like day after day, you feel like you are dealing with the same problems that you thought you took care of the day before. Sometimes, life just flat out sucks. There’s no easy way to put it. But, don’t let it suck. Don’t let the bad situation you’re dealing with, take away from all the greatness you have to give to the world.

Do NOT let the situation you are put in define you. It's time for YOU to define the situation. You were put into this world for a reason, and it was not to give up. Your parents did not raise you to give up when the going get’s tough. They did not teach you that you can’t dig yourself out of the hole that you landed in.

First, you need to remind yourself that you’re a badass. You can do anything you put your mind to. You’re creative, smart, witty, charming - I’m sure the list can go on and on. Now, use those qualities to your advantage. It's time to step up and face the situation you’re dealing with head on - no matter what that circumstance might be. If you aren’t happy, start doing things you love. If you aren’t being treated fairly, stick up for yourself. If you aren’t in shape, go to the gym. If people are doubting you, give them a reason not to. Many people all around the world, are going through an issue right now. And like yourself, they probably feel defeated. They probably feel like they have to throw in the towel because it’s time to give up. Here’s the thing: It is never time to give up. When life throws curve balls at you, catch them. Don’t dodge them.

You have two choices. You can cry like a baby, and stomp your feet until you feel better. Or, you can get out there, and fix the shitty situation you are dealing with. You don’t have to put up with what is going on around you. But it’s up to YOU to change it. It’s up to you to live the life you want to love.

When life gives you lemons, you can either deal with the sour taste or make lemonade. And the answer should always be, to make lemonade.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
