We have all begrudgingly made it to the end of yet another semester at HWS and now there is one thing that is looming over us: Finals. I know I said the F-word but please, bear with me. With each other’s help and support we can make it through together. In order to have a great, positive finals experience, I have complied a list of things that I think are necessary.
1.Study Space
I cannot stress how important this is, which is why it’s my number one. Where you study can have a big impact on how you will be able to concentrate and effectively study. You need to pick a space where you know you will be able to be free from any distraction or any other activities that does not involve actively studying. For me, I know that I get distracted early, so I have to pick a space where I know I will be alone and be able to get me work done.
2.Preparation
Growing up I was always taught about the essential 5 P’s. They are Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. I have applied this to my everyday life and it has done wonders for me. So I believe that is you apply this to you study method, you will experience nothing but positive results. They way that you prepare in order to study in very important. You need to gather whatever necessary so that you are able to have an effective study experience. This includes gather all of your notes and material from the entire semester.
3.SNACKS!
In my book, it is always okay to have a few munchies on you while your study. Sometimes, the brain needs a little extra boost and that may be some food. So, keep some snack near you just incase you need a little extra boost while studying I don’t know about you, but I’ll definitely be adding snack money to my account for finals.
4.DON’T Procrastinate
DON’T PROCRASTINATE. I do not now how much I can stress this. Don’t do it. You will be absolutely miserable and stressed to a level that you did not know previously existed. Please, plan ahead. For me, I think it’s easiest to get my finals papers written and out of the way so that I can plan to have more time to study for my exams.
5.Take a break
Stressing over finals, it can be pretty easy to forget to take a break and let loose a little. People being to over themselves and it does not end of benefiting in the long run. It is okay and healthy to take a break from studying to go watch a little TV or even hang out with some friends. You brain needs a break from going over a lot of information at once. Something that I like to do is hang out with my friends or get food when I’m on a study break.
I hope that these little tips will help you as you prepare for your exams. Remember: we are all in this together! Happy Studying!
