It's Okay To Not Be Okay

Life isn't easy, it's okay to be knocked off your feet every once in awhile.

It’s okay to not be okay.

It's okay to not have a smile on your face 24/7. It's almost humanly impossible to be smiling all of the time. Even the strongest people we know have moments where a smile just can't be on their face. Life isn't all sunshine and rainbows and there are highs and lows. When you hit a low, it's okay to not be okay.

It’s okay to feel overwhelmed.

When the going gets tough everything that you have to get done can add up quickly. Whether it's the long list of homework assignments, the multiple tables that you're waiting on at work, or the never ending small tasks that we all have to do on a daily basis, when things aren't going well it can add up and it feels like you will never be able to finish it all. We are human; when you're not having the best day, it's okay to not get every single thing done. When you're feeling overwhelmed by all of the things you have to accomplish in your day, take a step back, and handle each task one by one. Feeling overwhelmed is natural, just remember to breathe and take things step by step, don't try to tackle your mountain of tasks all at once.

It’s okay to feel like things are falling apart.

When life gets overwhelming and you're not okay, it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Different things keep going wrong and we struggle to remember the things that are going right. When we hit a low, everything seems to go wrong. The saying "when it rains, it pours" is very relatable. Sometimes life just likes to throw a bunch of challenges our way, but we can handle it. No matter how bad things are going, they will get better. It's easy to feel like things are falling apart and when they do, it's okay, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, just hang in there.

It’s okay to get knocked off your feet.

When life hits us hard, it can knock us off our feet. We feel like every time we try to get up, we get knocked over again. Instead of life being a helping hand to help us get our balance back, it feel like life is throwing different obstacles at us to ensure that we can't get up again. It's okay to get knocked down; when we are knocked off our feet we are shown new perspectives. Being knocked off our feet teaches us to appreciate when things are going well. It teaches us to fight and persevere when things are going how we want them to.

It’s okay to ask for help.

When we find ourselves in times where we aren't okay, we often don't ask for help. Whether we are too proud to admit that we aren't okay or we don't want to burden others with the task of helping us, it's better to ask for help. When we reach out to others for help, we can get back on our feet faster and we can learn from those who help us. When we aren't okay, it affects our thoughts and actions. There are people who can help, there are people who want to help. We aren't alone. We are all in this together. Ask for help, it's okay.

It’s NOT okay to stay down.

The worst thing we can do is stay down. We need to be able to roll with the highs and lows of life. Don't get stuck in a low. Pick yourself up and fight for your life. You decide how you react and handle everything that happens to you. Handle things the best you can. Life will knock you down and there will be times when you're not okay, but it's okay. We are all human and there will be times where we need to sulk and avoid handling what's wrong, but the most important part is to not keep yourself down. It's okay to not be okay, but make sure to pick yourself up and keep moving. You've got one life to live so make it count, fight for yourself and what you want in life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
