I know that college is known for students going to parties, meeting new people, and of course getting drunk. But you don't have to party.
When you have a job, partying is the last thing on your mind. You can't put partying as a priority because...well... it's not practical.
Don't worry about FOMO (fear of missing out) because chances are, you're not missing anything. Almost every party is the same - the same people get drunk, the same people make the same mistakes, it's just a cycle.
Sure, partying is fun. Meeting new people is awesome too, but meeting people out of the party atmosphere is also great. The loud music mixed with drunken voices is sometimes a bad combo.
Another perk of not partying every single weekend is you get to sleep. Who doesn't love sleep? It offers so many benefits and you'll feel 10X better waking up on Sunday morning with no hangover.AND you won't be able to send drunk texts because you're not drunk!
Also, you're saving money. Drink costs can rack up and you'll wake up with a hole in your wallet.
I'm not trying to knock the people who do party every weekend, I applaud you. I get tired at 10:30 pm. But it's good to sit and chill out some weekends with a couple of friends.
If you do party a lot on the weekends, or it's your first time going out, please be careful. Even though you might not think it will happen to you - it might.
Please watch what you're drinking and either make the drink yourself or bring your own.
Watch who's around you. If someone is egging you on to drink, don't.
Make sure you have a buddy to check in with every-so-often. It'll make you feel better and you know someone at the party already.
But remember, it's okay NOT to party! It's okay TO party! But don't feel bad about yourself if you don't go out every weekend to study or you just don't feel like it. There will always be another party.
