I am just telling you now that it is okay to not be okay. Everyone is different and everyone is going through something. That’s life. But if you think that you are alone in this, you aren’t. There might be people going through different things that you are, but there are also a million people that can relate and understand you. Just so you know, you are not alone.
I say this because I know that it is hard sometimes. From working two jobs and writing for Odyssey and having two majors and trying to add on a minor, I know it is stressful. Let me tell you, being an adult sucks. Don’t even get me started on spending money. Add on family and friend issues or relationship drama, it can be a pretty stressful world out there. I am constantly stressed all the time. I got all B’s my last 8 weeks of college and I thought the world was ending. But it is okay (I realized B’s are okay if you are trying).
You will graduate college (or high school if you’re still there) and you will get a job. Everyone’s first job usually sucks, but you will get there one day. You have a great future to look forward to and the only thing that is stopping you is you. I am saying this advice because I know what it is like to be constantly depressed and worried about everything. I have felt alone for a long time, but I realized that I have people there for me. And guess what, so do you! It may not feel like it, but I promise you that someone has your back.
Don’t let the days drag on and just live it day by day. Live your life for what it is. I must admit, I am very bad at this, but I am trying to work on it. And that is all that matters. Go out with friends to see a movie or out to eat. Don’t spend all your time locked up in your room every day (this is something that I struggle with). And yes, occasionally, it is okay to have a day just for yourself (who wouldn’t want to lay in bed all day and binge watch Gilmore Girls?). Be spontaneous and be yourself. Put your trust in God and know that everything will be alright.
It is okay to not be okay if you are working on yourself. Take all the time you need to heal and you will get through it. Believe me, one day you will be lying in bed next to your husband/wife and wondering how your life was ever that bad. You will have amazing kids and awesome friends. Just put your faith in yourself and you will be just fine. I am working on myself now and I believe that you can do it too!
