You never really know how someone is going to impact your life until they have to go.
About two months ago, I asked a fellow classmate a question in class and little did I know that by asking him a simple question, that he would become one of my greatest friends.
Luis and I have pretty much been inseparable since day one. I can remember the very first time we ever went to Cookout together. I've never seen someone smile so much to just go to Cookout with a girl he just met that very day. My life changed that day and I will never forget the amount of joy that he has brought to my life in such a short time just by flashing me those "pearly whites."
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the past month at eleven o'clock in the morning I walk to the library and meet him, hang out, pretend to do homework, and talk for an hour before class. Good or bad, he always listens to me about my day or something that I am currently irritated with. He never ceases to be a wonderful friend to me even though most of the time I probably don't deserve it.
We tell each other everything and don't hesitate to speak our minds. So you can imagine my disappointment when he told me that he might not be returning to Lander University in the spring. He still tells me every day that there is still a chance that he will come back for the spring semester and I try to be hopeful but there is still that small voice in the back of my head that tells me that I might never see him in person again.
There have been countless movie dates, coffee, and study breaks, and late night talks about what we want and who we want to be over the past two months. You never expect moments like that to end.
His silly character and memorable laugh make my days here at Lander unforgettable.
I know that I am not the only person that Luis has impacted here at Lander. He is a member of Lander's Tennis team and knows and befriends almost everyone here. I mean, who wouldn't want to be friends with this guy?!
(This is a picture of himnapping with my stuffed giraffe, Willy.) Every time Luis comes to my place he falls asleep with this giraffe for at least twenty minutes and then wakes up and won't stop talking. Although it is annoying, I wouldn't trade his sleepy banter for anything.
I don't know what I'm going to do once he leaves. My days will be very lonely and probably spent thinking about what he and I would be doing if he were there with me. I hope that he comes back in the spring, I also hope he knows how much he means to me and how much our friendship has meant to me over the past couple of months.
I love you, man. And I'll see you later.
