Italy, You Have My Heart

Traveling the world turns into more than a vacation when you develop such a connection with the country you visited.

Italy, You Have My Heart

In my opinion, traveling the world is the greatest experience to ever be apart of.

Fortunately, I have been lucky enough to travel to eleven different countries. Traveling has taught me so much about the different types of people, the different languages, foods, rituals and cultures. I've learned to take thousands of pictures while I travel because though it's hard to take in the country you're in through a lense, it's the reason I have such a strong memory of every place I have been to.

I've been to Europe two different times. France and Spain the first and Italy and Switzerland the second time. So far, my favorite has been Italy. Italy has no language barrier, beautiful landmarks, friendly people and cuisine to die for. Venice, the city underwater was definitely my favorite. The gondola rides more peaceful than yoga, the gelato sweeter than sugar, everything about Venice was perfect. If I had to explain to the people who know me how happy I was while visiting Venice I would tell them more happy than if I met New York Mets pitcher, Noah Syndergaard.

Italy is unique. There are tourists everywhere but there are even more residents, that make the country so beautiful and educational. Their mannerisms, their choice of clothing and everything in between makes traveling the world so exciting and special.

Coming home from Italy and five days later breaking news informs the world that there was a deadly earthquake just 115 miles from Rome. Being there just a few days prior to this disaster broke my heart in ways I didn't think were possible. I fell in love with Italy and knowing one of my favorite countries in the world was suffering, hurt more than ever.

When you travel the world, you develop stronger feelings than you knew existed for people you met, food you tried and the country in itself.

Italy, you have my heart forever and though I was only there for eight days, I feel as though it could be home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
