It Will be a Late Night: The Bar

Relationships are an interesting thing. People will meet and have an instant connection and yet that same connection can fade away almost as fast as it started. Nothing with starting a new relationship is how expect it to be and the twist and turns are what keep everything interesting. They are funny in that way. Just keep in mind this isn't a love story.

"I'll have a whiskey ginger," He looked up from cutting limes and immediately noticed her piercing green eyes and auburn hair. He felt a smile come across his face that disappeared as quickly as it happened once he noticed what was going on.

"Oh uh I don't actually do that," he stammered. "I just kind of walk around and try not to get in the way." He laughed nervously, "but I'll grab the bartender for you."

She smiled at him, "okay awesome!" He laughed nervously and walked away. Usually when he interacted with customers he would just walk away and not actually help whoever came up to him. But she caught him off guard and he thought maybe he would have a shot. After all he did not blow it that badly with that first interaction.

He had only been working at the bar for a little over a month at this point and other than getting aggressively hit on by older women nothing to exciting really happened. He hadn't been home in a long time and when he came back he realized that most of his good friends left the small town that they grew up in just as he had so this limited his social options quite a bit. This job at the bar seemed like a blessing for not only his social life but also his liver. After being home for a few months he yearned for being back at school. When he thought about it he actually forgot what a hangover felt like. Even though most of his friends graduated and left just as he had he missed the opportunities college life offered and he knew he could always make new friends there if he had to. On top of that he was someone back there. In this small town he was just another forgotten face in someone's class photo hanging up on their wall. His love life wasn't really their either. He had been on and off with his long time college girlfriend for the past year and a half as much as he loved her he knew he messed up with her this last time and that chance to rekindle most likely was long gone. He did miss the rush of the single life though and who knows what would happen if he took a risk.

He sighed and grew tired of the pity party that he was throwing for himself. He walked up to the bartender, "hey there is this girl on the other side who wants a whiskey ginger, and she is kind of cute so if you could make her drink next you would really be helping me out here."

Jessica, the bartender, gave him that look that only a disapproving sister would give but reluctantly made the drink for him. After thanking her way more than he needed to, he brought the drink to the red head. "Here ya go," he said

"Thanks! Man you guys sure are fast here?" she said

"Yeah, Jessica is pretty good at keeping the drinks flowing." He knew he had to play it cool if he was going to get her number. "I'm Jason by the way."

"I'm Dayna" she said. She took the drink from the counter and walked away from the bar.

Jason was disappointed in the fact she decided to walk away until he saw her look back at him and smiled.

"I'm in," he thought.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
