This cliche line which is used on many breakups has little meaning to this generation, nowadays. But, sometimes, this is the truth. Sometimes, in a breakup, you are the reason not your partner. Now, of course, when you tell them this, they will not believe you and ask a million questions. So, here's a letter telling them why you said this.
Dear Ex,
I'm writing you too explain what you questioned so much: "it wasn't you, it was me." I hope by reading this you find peace in the breakup, and understand why I did what I did.
1. What do you mean by that?
Well, I mean what I say. There were flaws in the relationship that I caused that I couldn't take back. I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for letting you down. I'm sorry I couldn't make you happy anymore. I needed to work on myself. I needed to find out how to make myself happy again.
2. Did I do something to cause this?
I was basing my happiness on you, and that's not how it's suppose to be. You were trying to be there for me, but I just needed to be there for myself.
3. What does this mean?
This means that we need to make ourselves happy. We need to figure out what our own passions are and follow them. Sometimes, we focus so much on a relationship we miss out on life. Therefore, I hope you live life to the fullest, now.
Lastly, I hope you know I will always love you and care about you. I hope you find someone who makes you happier than I could.
Best of luck,
The girl who broke your heart
