Sometimes it really doesn’t take much to make someone’s day or even to make an impact on their life. You never know the internal struggles people are facing every single day. Making them feel noticed and special is not a difficult task; it just takes your acknowledgement of how easy it is to make people happy.

When I say it doesn’t take much, I really mean it. Sometimes just texting someone “how have you been?” can make their entire day. Or, if you are in line behind a girl with a cute outfit on, tell her how great her style is. You would be surprised with how many people need some reassurance every once in a while. Even if they are at a good point in their life, it definitely doesn’t hurt to be kind and give them a little boost.

People just want to feel important. They want to feel loved, noticed and appreciated. In reality, it shouldn’t be a daunting task to let someone know they are great and worthy of living a great life. Whether it be a phone call, a text, a compliment, or something else, it only takes a minute of your day to make a long-lasting impact on someone else’s.

I know these things from personal experience. There are days when I feel so alone, but when I get that text from a new friend or someone I haven’t heard from in a while, I immediately feel so much happier. It shows me that people are thinking of me and want to talk to me or spend time with me. Knowing that you have great people in your life is one of the best feelings out there.

People feel amazing when they are told how special and loved they are, even if they don’t explicitly say that. If you’re thinking about a friend from home you haven’t seen in a while and want to know what’s been up with them, just give them a call or text! They could be having a bad day and your text or call could be the thing that makes them remember they are amazing and have the strength to keep pushing on in their day.

I know that when I’m thinking about someone, I always want to reach out to them and pay off the favor I received because I know how good it feels. It in turn makes me feel amazing to be social and make an effort.

Telling someone a compliment, however small, can really change someone’s day, week, month, or life. Don’t ever underestimate what someone is going through or how impactful you can be. Even the smallest things in life can hold the greatest power.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
