If you are addicted to TikTok like me, you may have heard of the app Randonautica. If not, it's an app that gives you random coordinates, and you are supposed to focus on an intention before going. You're meant to find something relevant to your intention, whether or not it's exactly what you envision. I first heard about Randonauting from a TikTok that showed a group of friends discovering human remains while on their adventure.
I thought the concept was bit far-fetched, so I decided to try it myself. My friends and I set out on our Randonauting adventure with the plan to visit three points with different intentions.
1) Something crazy
Our first intention to see something crazy took us about 10 minutes away. We didn't see anything peculiar on our drive there, and the coordinates ended up being a residential street. Once we analyzed the houses surrounding us, we came to the conclusion that it was a completely ordinary street. So unfortunately, attempt number one was a fail.
2) Money
We really hoped the app wouldn't fail us this time around. I imagined us at least finding a $20 bill on the ground. The coordinates took us to another residential street, but this time our destination was a nice house on the water. My friend got out of the car and searched for money, but there was no luck. We decided that the house we'd arrived at was worth a lot of money, so maybe we could justify the destination this time.
3) Something meaningful
For our final attempt at Randonauting, we wanted to make it worth our while. The app ended up sending us down the block from my house this time around. When we arrived at the supposedly meaningful destination, we saw a bunch of trash on the side of the road. We decided to assume there was nothing meaningful in the trash to spare ourselves from going through it. But I mean, one man's trash is another man's treasure, right?
So, do you need to go Randonauting? I wouldn't say it's a must-try activity for your summer, but it is definitely something interesting to do if you're bored. Even if it doesn't work, Randonauting still gets you to explore places you may have never seen otherwise.
