Is Caitlyn Jenner the best public figure for trans people?

There are a lot of celebrities that are in the spotlight of fame that shouldn’t be so recognized or admired within the media. Many celebrities have had struggles before Hollywood has taken over them, yet when they have reached the top of the pyramid, they forget about all their hardships and become different people that do not focus nor acknowledge others that look up to them who face similar struggles they've encountered.

Caitlyn Jenner for example is viewed as an icon that is suppose to represent the LGBTQ community, but she does not positively represent the transgender community since she is so focused on still trying to figure herself out.

According to an episode of "I Am Cait," Jenner confirms that she is Republican and Christian with conservative views and beliefs.

Many transgenders and homosexuals come from a house hold where their sexuality is not accepted. When a person is in transition, their families abandon them, they become homeless and have no other option but to survive alone on the streets increasing the poverty level. Many employees claim to have equal opportunity employment but transgenders are the majority to be denied work.

In my opinion, a person who should be in the spotlight is someone who is open minded with liberal beliefs. They should be able to show sympathy and empathy and strongly support their community. Jenner being conservative has poor beliefs when many part of the LGBTQ community face difficulties within that social party.

Caitlyn Jenner comes from money, therefore it is easy for her to say and do things a certain way without being bullied. Many transgenders and others a part of the LGBTQ community who don’t have tons of money deal with bullies, can't fully accomplish their transition and have to improvise their change.

Unlike Caitlyn, she lives peaceful without any worries in her secluded Malibu home. Her transition took less than a years to accomplish even though she claims she was terrified to do it 20 years ago. It takes a person longer to transition when they don’t come from riches. Some people never fully accomplish their transitions due to hardships within their lifetime.

A major topic that caused controversy was when Jenner was asked by Ellen DeGeneres about same sex marriage. DeGeneres claims that Jenner still has judgment about gay marriage.

During Jenner's speech at 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, she stated, "I had never met another Trans person. I lived my life in silence. I suffered on my own. And as so many people in this room have such a difficult time coming out and being your true self and being who you are, it is a long struggle... But the last year has been the most rewarding year of my life. It’s been such a wonderful experience being able to shoot this show, We’re trying to make a difference. We’re trying to make the next generation of Trans people out there, make it seem more normal."

This shows that she doesn’t really know, comprehend and has no experience with with the LGBTQ community.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
