Why I Am Against The Muslim Ban

Iran has retaliated against Trumps new executive order, and none of us can blame them.

Trump has already ruffled the first few feathers. As I type this article, there is a protest coming together outside of JFK. In Donald Trump's latest abuse of power, I mean signed executive order, he managed to anger people to the point of retaliation in the form of NOT ALLOWING AMERICANS ENTRY.

Now, what could such a sweet and lovely guy like Trump do to cause this? Well, let’s find out.

Within the first eight DAYS of his presidency, Trump has signed executive orders left and right. Many of which were not to the liking of the American public, or more so, the world.

One of which calls for a 90-day Visa ban to those hailing from Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Libya and Yemen. It also applies if you have dual citizenship in those countries. For example, if you were from Iraq seeking entry into the US with your British passport, you will still be barred. He left out a few countries, and word on the street is ghag it’s because he has business deals with them.

But let’s focus for a minute on Iran, shall we?

In the last 24 hours, those from Iran have been blocked from flying to the U.S. or clearing customs in the country after Trump signed the order. This has placed a hostage situation on these people all because of the country they are from. These individuals have done nothing wrong. The only thing they did is come from a predominantly-Muslim country.

So what is the biggest plot twist to all of this? Iran has decided to do the same. Iran bans Americans entry into their country.

In the words of Tupac Shakur, "I ain’t mad at’cha.” The way I see it, it’s like they are saying “No offense, but we don't like your dad, so you guys can’t come over anymore.”

Now a friend of mine did make a point and said, “So what are we in high school? These are NATIONS. Why are we acting like someone didn’t get to sit at the cool kids table and now no one gets to sit at our table?”

I understand his issue, but I feel that this isn’t against the American people, so I am NOT offended by this. They (the Trump administration) can’t have it both ways. Iran has to put it’s foot down and be an example.

What does this spell out for us? Only time will tell.

My prediction? This will become a trend to all other countries that are done with America, well Trump's America. I know that there are many people thinking “Who cares if Iran wants to ban me? I wasn’t going there anyway.”

Well, what if you weren’t going to Iran, but Mexico? What happens when Mexico says “Screw you and your wall, stay out of my country!” There are a million reasons why that may or may not happen, but who knows?

At this moment, there are protestors mobilizing outside of JFK where these Iranians are stuck essentially with signs saying “I am a Jew and I stand up for Muslim people.” The support is there and it’s real. We just have to see what happens next.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
