The Iran Nuclear Deal

There are some facts about the deal you should know

The Iran Nuclear Deal
Thomas Trutschel

This summer, six geopolitical superpowers, the U.S., Russia, China, France, the U.K., and Germany, expounded a transnational agreement to tackle the nuclear capacity of Iran. Ever since 1979, Iranian relations with the United States have been a puddle of mud with threats that resulted in sanctions on Iran's economy, so the international significance of this agreement is historical.

The substance of the Iran nuclear deal has been approved by the international community and in particular the United Nations, with hopes that its approval would transpire in an American ratification of the deal. However, lawmakers in Washington on both sides of the aisle grew skeptical of the nature of the deal and the economic wealth Iran would accrue if the sanctions were lifted. American criticism first sparked with an argument that tax payer money would be given to Iran but on the contrary, the money is from frozen Iranian assets that the United States has control over.

The Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, reportedly banned further negotiations with the United States up until now but only if the deal adheres to certain conditions. The implication of this might be that the Shia Ayatollah is thinking collectively for the good economic condition of Iran that would result from the Nuclear Deal. Many conservative lawmakers in America were hesitant about the conditions of the deal, which although would restrain Iran's nuclear activity would also allow up to 3.7 percent of uranium enrichment to fuel power plants and civilian necessities. While this amount is enough to sustain particular functions, it's not even close to the amount needed to develop a nuclear weapon.

Another criticism of the agreement is the counterfactual argument of "what if they don't comply?" In the off chance that Iran is caught by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the economic and trade sanctions would be allocated once more.

There is a plenitude of reasons why there is hesitancy towards this agreement. Iran's behavior towards the U.S. for the past few decades has been hostile in nature, but Iran economically needs this deal more than western powers. The central opposition to negotiations by Iranian scholars and fundamentalists is that there should be no negotiating or compromise with western powers who have infected the Islamic Republic. However, the political climate is less important than the economy which is hanging in the balance.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
