Let's face it - most of us love makeup. Even if we wear a full face versus some mascara and chapstick, we are immersed in this world. From scrolling through websites to watching videos, we're constantly being introduced to new brands. If you're like me, a broke college kid, or just like saving money, you can't afford Anastasia Beverly-Hills dip brow, or Jeffree Star lipsticks, and sometimes it's tricky to find a good drugstore dupe that actually works, or provides the coverage you're searching for. Luckily, there's a solution to all of this - and it's called ipsy.
So, what exactly does this quiz entail? Through a short, two minute quiz, ipsy will ask for your skin color, your hair color, and your eye color, sort of as a basis to provide products that will enhance your beauty. Ipsy will then ask about your favorite products, what your hair texture is like, what brands you'd like to try, what sorts of colors you like your products to be, and what you would categorize your style as being. This gives the ipsy team an idea of who you are, and will then customize a Glam Bag for you.
The Glam Bag design changes each month, which is super cute. Each design has a little story about it at the bottom of the home page. Then, all of the exciting goodies are inside! You can wait until you have your Glam Bag to see, or you can go to the website to get a preview on what items you'll be receiving for that month. Since I just became a member in January, I was curious as to what kids of products I would be receiving, and what the quality of these items would be. I was honestly surprised - I received items from theBalm cosmetics and Pretty Women.
If you're debating whether or not ipsy an ipsy subscription is worth it, let me make my point. My Glam Bag, pictured above, would cost WAAAAYYYY more than $10 if I were to buy these products off of their respected websites. I didn't even KNOW about some of these products until my subscription, which is the entire point of ipsy. So, let's do the math together. Starting with the Loverecipe masks (which can be found here: https://skinmaskrx.com), the two I received are $1.50 a piece, so $3. Next, the Pretty Woman nail polish (found here: https://www.prettywomannyc.com/collections/new-pol...) is $7.99 for a single bottle. The Naked Cosmetics single eyeshadow (found here: http://www.nakedcos.com/Desert-Sunset-02_p_66.html ) is $14.99 (almost $15 for a SINGLE EYESHADOW COLOR?!?!). The Bahama Mama bronzer (found here: https://thebalm.com/products/bahama-mama-681619700...) is a whopping $20. And lastly, the Crown Brushes individual contour brush (found here: https://www.crownbrush.com/studio-pro-series/c405-...) is $7.49. Add those all together, and these five products cost $53.47, not counting the shipping I'd have to pay, or any sales tax. So for $10, I can get the same sized products and save myself about $44. Who WOULDN'T want to save that much on beauty products!?
My other favorite perk about being an ipsy member are the extra goodies. When you become a member, you can earn points, which in turn can go towards extra goodies in your next Glam Bag. Points are easy to obtain, too -- just by becoming a member, you earn 100 points! For every platform you follow ipsy on and for every review on a product you do, you earn anywhere between 10 to 15 points. Members also receive a referral link and will be awarded 250 points with every person who signs up with your link! Extra goodies can be from anywhere from 150 points+, depending on the product. These "sell out" quickly and change every so often though, so check back regularly to snag something for your next Glam Bag!
I highly recommend just trying out ipsy, even if you only plan on subscribing for one month. It introduces you to tons of new products you may have never heard of, or products you've been wanting to try out but don't want to spend tons of money on. You may be surprised on what comes in your Glam Bag, but you'll never know until you try! ♡
