Whenever I listen to K-pop, I dream that I am singing and dancing with a group of girls and boys by my side as if we were a band group.

My favorite music genre is pop. I do not only like pop, but I also like other types of pop. These pop genres are very important to me because they represent my mindset and emotions.

C-pop

C-pop is cool! I listen to plenty of singers like Jay Chou, Jolin Tsai, and Theresa Tang. Most of the songs talk about love and society. These songs connect me to my family and culture. C-pop is very important in my culture. I can see that in many Chinese music competition shows like "Voice of China" and "I Am A Singer." The shows have a lot of competition and hard work shown. It is true proof that contestants are very passionate about C-pop. From this, music should not be underestimated. It should be valued and understood by those who are willing to have open mindsets, ears, and hearts.

K-pop

K-pop is very cool and blazing! There are plenty of singers that I listen to like Ailee and Hyuna. Let's not forget about some band groups like After School and NU'EST! Whenever I listen to K-pop, I dream that I am singing and dancing with a group of girls and boys by my side as if we were a band group. This is my wildest dreams. Sometimes, I wish that I can sing it in front of the whole school, but in reality, I cannot because people will not understand what I am singing. I do not want to be a singer in the future, but I like singing for fun. Even though I do not want to fulfill this wildest dream, K-pop is still fun to listen to especially if you want to act cool and tough!

J-pop

Along with K-pop, there is also J-pop! J-pop is not only cool, but it is also cute and meaningful. Most J-pop songs talk about the meaning of love, friendship, adventure, protection, and emotions. There are plenty of singers that I listen to like Ayumi Hamasaki and Kana Nishino.

Whenever I listen to J-pop, I dream that life is like an anime. I have seen anime TV shows and movies like "Naruto" and "Clannad." Anime is awesome, cool and relaxing. What's also cool is that a J-pop song I know is from that anime. The reason why I want life to be like an anime is because I always believe in the bonds and romances that are shown in anime. Anime TV shows and movies usually take place in high school or a time period where the characters are teenagers. I go to school a lot and usually, a motivation that gets me going to school is hoping that something in school will be like an anime TV show or movie.

Anime TV shows and movies have songs shown in the opening and ending credits. I have certain J-pop songs that are my opening and ending credits to my school life. Even though life may not be the same as the anime TV shows and movies, it is still nice to embrace everything that J-pop can give me.

Pop

Here we are with the regular genre! I listen to singers like Ariana Grande and Jesse McCartney. There are different time periods in this genre of pop. I call them '70s, '80s, '90s, 2000s and 2010s. The '70s to the '90s are very sentimental and meaningful. They make me want to enjoy life especially the old times and movies. 2000s music is cool and remind me of childhood and teenage life. Let's not forget that during the 2000s, there were songs from Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Toonami, and 4Kids that their shows awesome and memorable! The 2010s represent the modern day. Songs are now political during this period. They include curse words and romance beyond the boundaries and modern-day problems. They make me feel like I want to have a crazy party and romance. However, I would not want to go that far. Simple and clean is already good enough. Whenever I listen to pop, I have an idea of what reality looks like. What is the true meaning of the world? What is the true meaning of love? What is the true meaning of being yourself? The changes in pop indicate the changes in the world including myself.

I have new songs that I like recently. However, there is a new feeling that I have as well. When I thought back to the old songs again, it reminds me of how I feel toward each genre. I wish that I can back to the old days where these songs gave me a nice sensation through my body. Such sentimentality of this does measure how much time has passed and how much I have grown as a person.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
