There are a lot of horror movies out there that meet the requirements of being intensely creepy but some of these films don't need to be considered horror to creep you out. Some of these are creepy due to characters and some are because of the story. Check out these 5 films that I found really good but also intensely creepy.
Crawl (2019)
Crawl stars Kaya Scodelario and directed by Alexandre Aja. The Crawl is about a terrible hurricane that hits Florida and washes up a lot of huge alligators. Kaya's character, Hayley gets stuck in her house with her father but they aren't alone. Kaya created a badass female survivor in this film during her fight for survival against a pack of alligators. It was the best horror film of the summer.
Fear (1996)
Fear stars Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg and is directed by James Foley. Nicole (Witherspoon) is a 16-year-old who meets a 23-year-old named David (Wahlberg). They fall in love and it seems like a happy forbidden love story until it turns for the worst, because it turns out David is sociopath who becomes obsessive. This movie is an intense thriller and shows great acting from a young Mark Wahlberg.
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
From Dusk Till Dawn is a classic horror film starring George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino, it is directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Quentin Tarantino. The Gecko brothers get into crime trouble when they rob a bank and kidnap a preacher and his kids to get them over the border of Mexico. They find themselves at a topless bar that turns out to be a hiding for vampires to feast on their guests. This movie has interesting effects and gut-wrenching characters. The acting of the entire film is amazing and the story is one of a kind.
Nightcrawler (2014)
Nightcrawler stars Jake Gyllenhaal and is directed by Dan Gilroy. Nightcrawler is about a man named Louis Bloom who has a career as a news camera man. He searches for horrid crimes and other grim sites and sells them to a news director. The problem is Louis will do whatever he can to get the shot. The more the film goes on the darker Louis becomes. Gyllenhaal does an amazing job at transforming himself into a dark person and gives an impressive performance.
We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011)
We Need To Talk About Kevin stars Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller and is directed by Lynne Ramsay. It is about a woman who gives up her lifestyle to marry her husband and have a baby. She finds it hard to make a connection to her son Kevin and watches him slowly turn into a sociopathic teen without being able to do much to change it. It shows her having to move on from a horrible act he does and live with the thought. The acting in this is intense and well done. The way the story was told and the way the film was set up made it such a masterpiece of a film.
I hope you enjoyed my picks and give them a watch but be prepared for something that might leave you shook. These films aren't meant for the faint-hearted but will be worth the watch due to their unique stories and impressive acting.
