The movie isn’t even out yet.
I was scrolling through my timeline on Facebook the other day when I encountered the issue that people are complaining about the lesbian couple that will make its debut in the upcoming Disney Pixar film, Finding Dory. Just when you think that we’re getting somewhere with the evolution of Disney Movies.
I don’t know individual reasons behind why these parents are so upset, nor do I want to because it wouldn’t make sense for the following reasons:
1. A lesbian couple has been presented in Disney works before.
In fact, back in 2014 Disney Channel introduced Disney’s first lesbian couple on the sitcom Good Luck Charlie. The couple, Susan and Cheryl, had paid a visit to the Duncan family home to pick up their daughter, which was Charlie’s friend. Of course those conservative Christian were taking it to the social media networks and probably around their neighborhoods and let everyone know (Not like we cared) that Disney should not have portrayed such characters on the television show because they let their preteens and grade school children watch the show.
Big whoop.
Your child most likely has a friend at school that has adoptive gay or lesbian parents. And children, their innocent minds, definitely don’t see a problem with it and shouldn’t see a problem with it. At the most, they will ask questions about why they have two mommies or two daddies instead of one of each.
No child was harmed in the making of that episode.
2. The Voice of Dory is a Lesbian.
Ellen DeGeneres, comedian, actress, talk show host and guess what: a lesbian. Yes, she is a lesbian, she is happy, she is talented and probably making more money than you. It’s funny because half of the people that want to complain about this film and the introduction of that lesbian couple aren’t aware that she voices this character. And everyone loves Ellen. She uses her celebrity to give back to people. Her sexuality should not define who she is as a person rather, her character and how she treats others should be judged. And I bet after you found out this woman was lesbian, you still watched her show.
3. Disney has promoted Bestiality before Homosexuality, and you let your child watch that.
You let your child watch movies like Beauty and the Beast and Bee Movie. Nowhere in the Bible does it say it’s okay to practice bestiality. For you to go on social media and say that it’s wrong to show a lesbian couple but find it okay to show a movie of a woman falling in love with a damn insect is wrong. Come to think of it, I don’t think I know anyone personally that’s ever fallen in love with an animal, usually on the local news I see cases of people getting arrested for trying to sleep with horses or dogs or cows.
I don’t see cases on the local news about someone being arrested in my town for being gay.
The point is when you say things like ‘I can’t let my kid watch this because it makes them think It’s okay to be homosexual’
Excuse me.
If it so happens that your child turns out homosexual, it’s nobody’s fault. It takes a lot of courage for some people to come out to their family, especially with bible belt parents who would most likely disown them because they decided to go Alice and Eve and not Adam and Eve.
Yes, as an American you are entitled to your opinion. However, when you go public on social media and try to protest these actions, you have to think about who you’re talking about.
You’re talking about someone’s sister, aunt, mother, teacher, nurse, doctor, best friend.
Possibly your family or friends.
Conservative Christians, it’s not that serious but you make it that serious and go too far hurting more people you know than you think. You’re entitle to your opinion but you are NOT entitled to anyone abiding by them. The movie is made. It is here.
Take your child to go see the movie.
