It's 2016 and there is a huge trend on the rise... instant cameras! Throwback to the 80's, am I right? Anyway, it is so much fun to own an instant camera! The squeals of delight when your friends have their picture taken, and the picture prints right out of the top, is totally worth the cost of the camera and film. Which, by the way, you can get for half the cost of the Michael's cameras on Amazon! I got an amazing package deal including a case, batteries, the camera, some film, etc- for $104, compared to the single cameras at Michael's for $119. I was able to get more film, and a selfie lens, for an additional $15 or so, making it the cost of just the camera at Michael's.
There is a certain charm to the vintage look and feel of the photos that this beauty prints out. This is the
What on earth can you do with an instant camera, now that the whole world is digital? There is a world of things you could do!
1. Scrapbooking made easy!
I know that I personally get a little antsy waiting for my photos to print and be shipped to me to work on my scrapbooks. I wish that I had 100 films and my camera 7 months ago- my scrapbook would have such a lovely vintage feel to it, and I wouldn't have to worry about the 4x6 size fitting into my pages. Each photo printed with this specific camera is wallet sized. There are even photo albums made specifically for these tiny photos, and I know that Smash Journals make a great instant scrapbooking pair with the photos.
2. Dorm decorating... yes, please!
You all know those adorable wall hangings, the colorful string or rope with tiny clothespins, holding up photos of people you love? Can you imagine how easy and personal they could be with an instant camera! Plus, you can add so many more photos when they're so small. They may be small pictures, but they have a surprising quality to them.
3. Scavenger hunt!!
Picture this (haha, get it?) - a nice, cozy day, you and your friends hunting for random items around your house or town. A quickly snapped picture, and you've got proof of your sighting and a good memory to keep.
4. Traveling in style!
So you have planned out the best road trip ever. You definitely have to document it, right? Take instant photos! Then you can store them in a safe place right away, and not worry about your phone storage blowing up with all the photos you definitely want to take. You can make them artsy by writing a brief description on them, or labeling them, or even just leaving the picture to tell the story.
5. Imagine the gifts!
Your grandparents, and your parents, definitely remember instant cameras. How cool would it be for you to create a gift for them out of your pictures? You're off at college, and I'm sure they miss you more than they let onto, so bring them a blast from the past as well as a nice token of your love to show them that even though you're more independent now, you think of them.
