In today's world, most of our lives are filled with and controlled by schools that shape our us to focus achieving positions in life. The only difference, it's said, is the amount of work each person puts in to succeed. This got me thinking, "Why is this the only path for us, where everyone follows the same rules and strategies, but only some get the best out of it?" This question brought out in me a desire to lunge out of the norm and try something new.
So, I became an Instagram reseller.
Business and money aspects always stole my attention. I've always wanted to be that person who earned his share and was able to support himself from an early age, instead of relying on others. My interest in shoes originally pulled me to Instagram, but I wouldn't have stepped foot into the reselling business without a certain motivation: my parents' negative, skeptical attitude.
If you have ever heard someone say, "There's always something good in bad," then believe it. This ideology is what shaped my brain into becoming a do-er.
I loved shoes, and my parents would restrict my spending limit and how many pairs I could actually own, which kind of annoyed me but was also 100 percent understandable. Then, I found out through friends that I could actually make money from selling shoes, and boom. That was the catalyst to my regime. Why annoy my parents and beg for what I want only to face denial when I could possibly buy my own shoes just by selling some?
I took a loan of $180 from my dad, promising him to pay him back (which he never believed) and invested in my first pair. The sale of those shoes brought in an extra margin which I slowly used on future shoes, and I kept repeating the process. The day I paid my dad back, I actually had enough to keep supporting my own form of business, and I currently am making more than what kids my age usually don't make, even when pulling after hours and hours of work.
The point I want to make is that life is full of opportunities and countless doors to be opened.
Reselling is actually a hobby for me to help take my mind of other stressors while sharpening my business, communication and money-handling skills. Although school is a priority, I urge you to take the step forward to create opportunities for yourself instead of waiting for them. Do your own thing, and who knows: it may be something that you end up pursuing for most of your life!
