No matter how simple or complex the adventure is, I crave it. From my friend pegging me on their bike to Dairy Queen to traveling across the world, I get intoxicated with the feeling of freedom.
Spontaneous thrills are great because they get the heart racing with excitement. Doing homework? Watching a movie? No worries, I'll drop anything for a little taste of adventure.
Trip planning is a little different than the spontaneous adventures, but equally as satisfying. Waiting so long to leave the daily routine is like breaking free from jail (although I've never experienced a jail breakthrough, I imagine the feeling is somewhat similar!). If you're anything like me, you create a countdown the moment you know what dates your future adventure begins. I instantly become giddy because I know I'm going to have a memorable time no matter where I go.
My favorite thing about larger adventures in life is that they usually always require you to do something new. I know, if it's not broke don't fix it, but why not? If you want to change up life just go for it!
There is no point in waiting. This should actually be titled "Inside The Mind Of An Impatient Adventurer." I'm so impatient it's almost unhealthy. But anyway I love when you get the rush of trying something new. Like, if I'm stuck on my homework and having a mental block I try to find something that will make me laugh really hard or get my heart rate up a bit because that is a sense of adventure to me, and then I am able to get back to work after that because I know it has to get done.
Since I am such an adventurous human, sometimes I forget that not everyone is fearless about trying something new or exploring outside of their comfort zone. Obviously, I'm going to be a little biased here, but I wish more people weren't afraid. One thing I have learned throughout my 21 years of life (I am so wise, I know) is to not be so scared to venture outside of the guided lines.
Don't let anyone control you. Be you. Be free. Don't wear a bra one day, or don't wash your hair for a week or just drop everything and travel to a new state! Go do something outside of your norms!
After finally not caring what people judged of me, I finally became the real me:
"Abby, you need to start eating healthy because you run track,"--yeah... I'm still going to eat this full bag of crispy M&Ms..
"Abby, you got a tattoo!?"-- Wellllll, actually, I have four.
"Abby, are you at home?"-- What? I'm in Colorado.
Small thrills or big thrills, there is absolutely no measure on adventure. It could be so small that only you know about it or so thrilling that you post it on every social media page. I know I have had a decent amount of adventure in my life, but (ugh sorry I tried not to get cliche) this is just the beginning. Hungary, Denver, Cancun, Chicago and even Waverly, Iowa have provided me with the right dose of adventure.
Your adventures can be found anywhere.
