I've been wearing glasses since the fourth grade. This is going to sound weird but I actually really wanted glasses! Everyone in my family had them so why couldn't I? I liked trying theirs on. I was so fascinated with them. When I went to the optometrist and found out I needed glasses, I was elated. I was overwhelmed by all the glasses they had to choose from. There were so many different colors and shapes. Once I picked out my two pairs, I had to wait about a week until they were ready for us to pick up. My anxiousness was killing me! Once I got my glasses, I couldn't stop wearing them...Oops.
I was only supposed to wear my glasses at school to see the board but I found myself wearing them all the time. I got so dependent on them that it got to the point where I needed to wear them at all times. My vision has gotten worse over the years but it has stayed the same within the past few years thankfully.
Do not get me wrong though. I do enjoy wearing glasses. Whenever I'm not wearing them I feel incomplete. I tried contacts but I can't get adjusted to them. Kudos to you if you put in contacts every morning with no problems.
Glasses are cool. They will always be "in" in my book. They are the perfect accessory. There are many of us glasses wearers out there but we are not the same. Our frames make us unique.
I do have some tips for all the glasses wearers out there.
1. Avoid losing your glasses at all costs.
This happens. You can't find your glasses because you can't see without them. They could literally be right in front of you and you wouldn't know.
2. Make sure you pick a pair of glasses that you love and never want to take off.
Since you're going to be wearing your glasses all the time, make sure that you really like the pair you pick.
3. Don't become dependent on your glasses if you don't need to be.
Only use your glasses when you need them. The more you use them, the greater the chance you'll need them more.
4. Feel confident with your glasses on!
Many people (even Drake) wear non-prescripted glasses as an accessory but as a glasses wearer, glasses are your everyday accessory. Embrace them!
