As we wake up, groggy eyed, cursing at our alarm clocks, wishing we could snooze for just a few more minutes, there's another segment of the world that's already in action. They set the streets in motion: deliver your milk or newspaper at your doorstep, ride late night passengers to safety, clean the streets. They get to work at 4 AM as you are dreaming in comfortable beds. They are the unsung heroes that are a crucial, integral part of the functioning of society.
Nilay Singh, a young media student and musician from Navi Mumbai, India dedicated a photo series to these dawn heroes who rise to work relentlessly in the backdrop. His motivation behind the project is "a tribute to all the unsung heroes who are working at that hour of the day where most of us are sleeping. So I decided to change my sleeping pattern and showcase the worthy. All of these images are shot between 4:00-5:00 am."
