A Letter To The Incoming College Freshman

Senior year has somehow come to a finish and summer already seems to be flying by. A little voice in the back of your head knows that nothing will ever be the same after the fall quickly approaches. For some reason, these changes seem like a weird or bad thing. The truth is, change can be hard, making new friends can be hard, and leaving your family can be the hardest.

However, all of these changes are for the best. Whether you're going to college or starting a career, moving on to the next chapter of your life can be a very exciting thing. The next few years will help each and every recent graduate grow, mature and learn how to live life on their own.

Growing up, college always seems so far away. When you reach middle school and you hear the year you graduate for the first time, it seems like that graduation will never come. High school seems never ending but once it ends, it seems as if it flew by in a blink of an eye.

Spend as much time with your family before leaving the house, and keep your high school friends in touch no matter what you do.

Always look forward to what's coming, never let anyone stop you from accomplishing something you have your mind set on, and carry your morals with you wherever life takes you.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
