So, after starting my second year at DCAD, I didn't know what to expect going into the animation program without any previous knowledge in Animate, After Effects, or Blender. However, now that I have had a couple classes that use Animate and Blender, I feel as though I can give a fair opinion.
Adobe Animate is a fairly easy software to use. I understand how to make basic animations using the motion tween and symbols. Today, we learned how to make movie symbols, and I thought it was a pretty cool way to make a 3D movement in a 2D program. However, I do have to admit, even though it is an easy program to use, it is difficult to remember how to use more of the complicated tools, like the movie tween. At the moment, my class is doing a three week project where we have to animate weather or a natural phenomenon. I will be doing a scene that involves lava, and I think with the few things I have learned over the past couple weeks, I won't have a problem with my idea.
Now Blender on the other hand is a different experience. For anyone who doesn't know, Blender is a free 3D animation program. With the few experiences I have had with Blender, I find the program extremely difficult to use and even more difficult to navigate. I feel that if I spend a little more of my free time outside my homework exploring, looking up online guides, and learning the program I will find it easier to use. However, I really don't know where to start. In my first class we used the entire four hours to make a model of an eye. I thought this was very time consuming, and I couldn't help but think that there has got to be something, I am missing with this program. I guess only time will tell, but for now, I will just explore the program for myself.
